2009 - CUT-PASTE
Woman of Upper Mount Gravatt is part of a series of work in relation to the Brisbane suburb of Upper Mount Gravatt. The prints in this book are not the focus, instead, they form a platform for the collages and cutouts that create coloured spaces and contrasts of tone. The book has a series of tree cutouts which explore trees from my backyard as well as the bush land reserve on the mountain. Amanda's work maintains a strong dependence on collage as the foundation of her designs. It helps to combine contradictory elements of proportion, topic and scale which in the end make for an interesting and whimsical work.
