Shells

Drawing the shells was a mediative process of allowing graphite to fold into the paper, pull off, drag and to drop into the shadows of each shape and then fade out into the surface of each shell—a pattern of push, pull and fade. Holding a pencil that glides, hesitates, grinds into and bounces on the texture of the paper surface to create a pattern of light and dark the logic that builds the shape.
