I come from a very creative family and have been painting for as long as I can remember. My father, an architect before he retired paints fantastic watercolors and my 5 siblings dabble in one creative field or another – pottery, commercial graphics or copper work and graphic design.
In 2005 to 2006 I owned and managed an Art Gallery on Coochiemudlo Island – a small island off the coast of Queensland. The Coochie Art Studio was a fantastic way to introduce myself and my individual style of work into the art world. I have had several very successful exhibitions during this time and established my website www.coochieartstudio.com . I now work from my studio at home “on the mainland” and welcome visitors by appointment. My contact details are the website or carol.beck@bigpond.com.
I would call my painting style Contemporary and love to experiment with mixed media. I have made my mark with and have sold several of my “bitumen paintings”. I feel this is truly a “sensuous and erotic” medium in which to work in and, when mixed with water soluble oils, gives a very rich and vibrant texture to journey within. The medium takes me on an exciting journey of discovery – a journey which I hope the viewer can use to embellish their own individual journeys - to have the viewer meditate on possibilities, ponder on them and evoke meanings important to them would be a successful and exciting experience.
“it’s not the destination but rather the journey that counts”
As I am currently full time work and studying, my time is limited to dedicate to my personal practice however I have unlimited ideas that I will put into practice when time is available. |
