  Ted Barraclough
Ted Barraclough birds is the latest publication from artHIVES. This 440 page hardcover book contains 253 beautiful full colour photographs of Barraclough's bird sculptures, capturing the passionate skill of the artist and the imbued personality of his creations. This publication includes and essay by Museum of Contemporary Art curator, Glenn Barkley.

The release of "Ted Barraclough birds" coincidedes with Ted's latest installation of 100 birds sculptures at Artspace Mackay in an exhibition entitled "A Rare Bird" which opens on 8 September and continues until 9 February 2013.

  Lyndal Hargrave - Squared

Lyndal Hargrave's exhibition of geometric, timber sculptures - Squared - is currently on at Spiro Grace Art Rooms (255 Gregory Tce, Spring Hill, Brisbane, Qld) until 8 September.

Immersed in materiality and process, her linear and geometric sculptural forms create drawings in space, and aim to transform everyday objects and materials into architectonic inventions. Hargrave’s works references mathematical systems, and are manipulated to stretch the boundaries of logic, and dance between illusion and reality. [www.sgar.com.au].

  Kathryn Brimblecombe-Fox - Finalist
 Kathryn Brimblecombe-Fox has again been invited to participate in the Tattersall’s $25,000 Landscape Art Award. The public exhibition will be on 10-21 September at Waterfront Place (1 Eagle St, Brisbane, Qld).

Kathryn’s entry for the Santos Art Award, Roma, has also been selected as a finalist.

How to Paint a Landscape? - is a show of Australian painters responding to and interpreting the landscape in their own unique way.

  Kym Barrett at Cooroy Butter Factory Arts Centre
Kym Barrett is showing new work at a joint exhibition - Transformations - which opens at Cooroy Butter Factory Arts Centre on Friday 12 October (6pm). Through her abstract work, Kym contemplates life and its process of continual transformation, connecting outer landscape fragments with an inner personal landscape. Kym will also be conducting a workshop in conjunction with the show.

Kym’s work - Loosening the Shackles - has been selected as one of the fifteen finalists in the Kenilworth Painting Prize for 2012.

  Cherie Durant - Pastiche Exhibition
Cherie Durant is part of a group exhibition - Pastiche - with seven other artists. The show is about the dynamics of colour and form - the way they interact sets up a rhythm.   Nick Olsen set to exhibit in London
Next month, Nick Olsen will be exhibiting work completed during his Royal Overseas League Residency at Gallery@OXO in the heart of London's Southbank district on 3 October.

The exhibition - Indian Summer - includes images produced during his 6 week residency at Hospitalfield House (Scotland).

Nick's work will also be exhibited at Rebecca Hossack's London gallery (Fitzrovia) later in 2012.

  Jimmy Rix in the Vineyards

Jimmy Rix's - Shy - has been selcted to exhibit in Sculpture in the Vineyards (Wollombi, Hunter Valley, NSW) from 3 November to 3 December. Rix's Shy also recently won the Delta Sculpture Prize at Sculpture on the Greens (Wyong, NSW) in May this year.

  Small Sculpture Wins Big
Congratulations to Elizabeth Shaw, winner of the Noosa Regional Gallery national contemporary Sunshine Coast Art Prize (SCAP) 3D, presented by the Sunshine Coast Council, which was announced on Friday, 24 August 2012.

Shaw's exquisite tiny sculpture "rotary dibbler" made of recycled sterling silver, found clock cog and bone earned Elizabeth a cash prize of $15,000 and a four-week arts residency on the Sunshine Coast valued at $5000.
