  score for a mineral landscape

A unique collaboration between visual artist Allyson Reynolds and composer Heinz Riegler has just opened at the Caboolture Regional Art Gallery (4 Hasking Street, Caboolture).  The installation called score for a mineral landscape combines two bodies of work; a 1.2 x 15 meter painting by Reynolds and a thirty-two minute, six channel audio composition by Riegler.

Installed in a darkened, black-walled gallery space, with dimmed light focused exclusively on the painting, this context brings initial focus upon Riegler’s score and then gradually, as one’s eyes adapt throughout the duration of the composition, the fine details of Reynolds’ painting are revealed.

While each body of work highlights their individual talents, the triumph of this installation is measured by the way in which these works successfully fuse within the space; the sensory vitality of each work is reflected within in the other, creating a unique and moving confluence.

score for a mineral landscape coincides with The Imperceptible Something…  an exhibition of contemporary painting, sculpture and photographs by Lincoln Austin, ErynMark Begley, Leonard Brown, Julie Fragar, Stephen Hart, Henri van Noordenburg and Savanhdary Vongpoothorn.

Both exhibitions continues until 10 August 2013.

  Adrienne Williams' Home Town

Adrienne Williams' latest exhibition opened in her new home town of Mt Perry recently. This exhibition of sketches and oil paintings shows some of Adrienne's work in progress for the joint Childers/Las Cruces USA exhibition in October, and at Red Hill Gallery in Brisbane.

Adrienne is one of 4 local artists chosen for the Wide Bay High Desert project coordination by the Bundaberg Regional Art Gallery, Childers Art Space, and the Unencumbered Gallery in the city of Las Cruces, New Mexico. The artists are currently each producing 4 pieces of work for the exchange as well as daily and weekly blog posts with their 4 New Mexico counterparts. Each artist will display two pieces in New Mexico and two in Childers in the October exhibition. From the scribblings, scratchings and photos in the sketching corner through to plein air  sketches made on various sites in the region, Adrienne is using this exhibition to demonstrate how her arts practice evolves from ideas through to finished pieces. Some of the colours are drawn from the Regional Ecosystem maps and learning about the maps flaws and values has added to the way that she now sees these landscapes.

10 Green Bottles is Adrienne's 6th solo exhibition and runs until 30 June, 2013 at the Mt Perry Fine Arts Gallery, Heussman Street, Mt Perry. Some pieces are for sale. 5% of sales will be donated to Mt Perry State School as an art equipment voucher.
