Concertina Arches and Chromolux paper, printed media, found painted canvas, maps, copper tape, eyelets, felt, printing inks, acrylic paint, collaged and stitched, found tin container. Artist's Statement The artists’ book titled “Black Saturday” was my response to the horrific events which occurred in Victoria during February 2009. The materials I used were those I had on hand in the studio at the time; old artworks, magazines, newspapers, printouts of emails sent and received. The work became a personal narrative of my thoughts and feelings and a documentation of media reports. I used maps from the areas affected, cutting out silhouettes depicting both people and place. The red stitched line running horizontally through the book represents the flat line that occurs when a person’s heart ceases to beat.
