This preliminary study for the oil painting of the same scene captures a sparkling winter’s morning at the gardens, viewed from above Station Street across to the western boundary of Nelson Road and Box Hill Hospital. The work was inspired by a glimpse from the artist’s car window, travelling past one morning.
