Printmaking: etching, collagraphs, linocut

With both printmaking and drawing process there is the continual pull between looking, feeling, drawing and resolution. With the practice of intaglio etching, in particular the use of aquatint, one never kows exactly how it is going to turn out. I highly value the fact that random marks and accidents do happen when working a plate. The serendipitous nature of the process reflects closely my interaction and journey within my practice allowing for a movement towards abstraction. Printmaking is not a static process and the journey of printmaking is an ever evolving and changing process. This is a reflective and meditative state of being that moves beyond mere artefact to a spiritual realm reflecting the metaphysical nuances of the human condition.
