BRIDGES CONNECT, mixed media piece, wins HERITAGE ART COMPETITION 2009
You can view this work in my gallery 'Recent Works'.
In the early days, Gympie gradually developed on both sides of the Mary River so the Normanby Bridge and the Channon Street Bridge (now Kidd Bridge) were needed to connect the two sides. They were the links that the people of Gympie needed, and they continue to service the city.
Throughout Gympie’s history, bridges have connected residents and have facilitated the city’s growth.
Because my paintings in general are about connections in a broader sense, this painting, BRIDGES CONNECT has a deeper, wider meaning – its about the metaphorical bridges which people can build to connect with eachother.
